Felt restless. Don't know if you know the feeling, but I've never been the kind of person to stay in one place for too long. [ She was a mercenary, then a soldier, then back to being freelance — she had freedom to roam around that she no longer has here, and it doesn't sit right with her to be so idle no matter how many activities and side jobs she put on her plate. ] Good thing I did, though. Got some friends that enjoy playing hero.
It's a nickname. Not meant to be taken so seriously, unless you absolutely hate it.
[ If this were video or voice, he'd have heard the amusement in her voice. Alas, she's not a text-shorthand user, either. ]
Yes, with some ass-kicking, I managed to wrangle them. [ And some synchrony, too, though it's not something that needs to be shared, even for someone with a lot less tact than her. ] I told you once I whacked monsters for a living, right? The ones here aren't much different from the creatures back home — they spat out miasma containing a contagion, and the unlucky ones would catch an incurable plague.
[ Should she be sharing this much? Probably not, but who's gonna stop her? ]

[ That's not so surprising, really, but Aranea has been exposed to magic and wacky science of all kinds, back home and here. Barely anything will probably surprise her. ]
The possibility is there; I wouldn't rule it out. [ Later on, it will be, as the spore is only transferable from creature to gem and gembonded it seems. ] One of our own is helping with the investigation and finding of a cure in the meantime, so we'll find out by then. He's pretty detailed.
Was that voluntary, or nah? 'Cause I gotta say, as much as I love to travel and see new places, inter-dimensional hopping is not my thing.
[ She will gladly stick to a shitty, sunless Eos, frankly. ]
Ignis Scientia. Glasses, killer knife skills, a great cook. [ And smoking hot. ] Smart, too. If you don't already know him, I recommend getting to know him.
Involuntary. They were places like this, barring exit, each with their own societal rules and varying governance. I know now I am not the only one who has visited multiple; I can't say I have discovered a pattern otherwise.
[It all seems very... random and uncontrolled.]
I see. We have met, actually. He was one of the first I encountered here. You two are close?
Just some bad luck, or some higher power? If you believe in that.
[ As for Ignis... she supposes they've grown close enough. ]
We were allies. Guess we can be considered friends here. Whatever system people have for that sorta thing can be a bit fast and loose when you're thrust in a situation to emotionally connect with someone intimately.

[Does he know the feeling? Perhaps not by choice.]
I assume those friends are with you now as well?

[Does he like it? No. But hate is a stronger emotion than what he feels being called something so... uncharacteristic.]
It's good you are capable of combat, then. This is not the first time I have seen it made into a necessary requirement for alternate dimensions.
Are you saying this plague is transferable to people, or only creatures?

'One of our own'? May I ask who?

Yes, that does appear to be the goal here. How are you adjusting to these encouraged "emotional connections"?
[He wonders. Would Aranea consider it easy, or does she struggle? Will she answer honestly? He doesn't know her well enough to guess.]
