Unless you count him spending the majority of his life trying to get his little brother to kill him a coping mechanism.

His whole childhood was a roller coaster of trauma, but a quick list: visiting a war battlefield with his father; Tenma, his genin teammate, being killed in front of him by Obito; Sasukeβs birth and their relationship in general; meeting and eventually colluding with Danzou; joining the ANBU via an assassination assignment; Shisuiβs death; his downward spiral of a relationship with his father; and, of course, the massacre. Everything after that is just Itachi biding time to finally die.

He was four, okay, I know it makes zero sense. This dream was eventually crushed by his role in what happened between Konoha and the Uchiha clan. His only real aspiration after that is protecting Konoha and Sasuke however possible.
β What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him? Everything... he is incredibly secretive and maintains a lie up until his death, so heβs essentially estranged from everyone. I think he prefers people know the absolute minimum about him on a personal level.
